FAQs about Scientology
At TipsForSuccess, we base our material on the discoveries of L. Ron Hubbard. Because he was the founder of the Church of Scientology, we have created a list of questions people frequently ask.
What is Scientology?
Scientology is a way to solve life problems. L. Ron Hubbard used ancient wisdom with modern science to create it.
The word Scientology comes from the Latin word scio (to know) and the Greek word logos (study), so its meaning is “the study of knowledge.”

You can also read about the IRS recognition of the Church of Scientology by clicking here.
Can I be a member of another religion and still use Scientology?
Yes. Many Scientologists are members of other religions. Scientology never asks members to abandon their faith. As L. Ron Hubbard writes in The Way to Happiness, “Respect the religious beliefs of others.”
Does Scientology believe in God?
Scientology focuses on spiritual self-discovery rather than worshiping a specific God. It teaches that each person must find their own understanding of the supreme being or spiritual truths.
Why is Scientology a Religion?
Scientology is a religion because it helps you succeed as a spirit. You learn how you can, as a spirit, separate from your body. You learn how to separate from your mental problems and negative thinking, as well.
Best of all, you discover how you are actually immortal. Your body might die, but you, as an individual spirit, do not die.
Why does Scientology get negative press?
Like most religions, Scientology gets both praise and criticism. Read more in the Freedom Magazine.
Is Scientology a dangerous cult?
No. Unlike bad cults, Scientology is open to the public. Scientologists are not asked to believe anything nor worship anyone. You don’t donate all your time or money to be a Scientologist.
